Hi, I’m Aaliyah, the hands, heart, and hustle behind Braids by Aaliyah. I’m a 14-year-old braider with a big dream and a love for creating beautiful, protective styles that let you feel confident and shine.

My journey started in an afterschool program called Funtology, where I was first introduced to the art of hair through creativity, connection, and imagination. Funtology is bridging the gap between the Barbie doll and the beauty doll, an innovative way for young people like me to explore our passions early and begin dreaming about a future in cosmetology. It was in that space that I discovered my gift, and I haven’t put down the comb since.

When you sit in my chair, it’s more than just getting your hair done, it’s stepping into a comfortable, safe space where you can relax, talk, laugh, or just vibe out. I want every client to feel seen, heard, and taken care of. While you’re there, you’ll get the respect, attention, and beautiful style you deserve.

Some people may think I’m “too young” to do professional work, but I’ve learned that your age doesn’t define your talent, your vision does. This isn’t a hobby, it’s my passion and my business. My work speaks for itself, and so do the smiles of my clients when they leave my chair.
